Default Going slow at the drag strip with my 1.6

Decided to hit up the local drag strip after work on Friday since it's only 20min away. I learned a lot, but mostly that I suck at launching and my tires suck. Only missed third once (and I was ahead of the camaro!). Also lost every race, but I am fairly sure I had the lowest displacement there.... Anyway, fastest pass ended up being a 14.606 and fastest trap was 99.76. Right about where I expected to be (had to turn up the boost just a hair because it was only making 8.5psi. Ended up at ~9.5psi for the later passes). Gotta work on launching and then getting my 60ft times down. Though I should throw in the 1.8 diff I have before doing that.... Need to fiddle the tune some too, it's rich up top.

keep practicing and it will go faster. Best mod you can do for the dragstrip is get the right tires, after you upgrade your diff of coarse.

Looks like fun! You sure get to go often, enjoy yourself and take it easy on that diff until you have a spare. I should probably listen to my own advice, but I won't.

I just stay in the lanes and go as often as I can. Seems a lot of people don't? First time I went I got 14 runs in in my Honda Fit, but it was me and like, 12 other cars by the end, so we were just hot lapping for the last 45 minutes. This is a small track in the middle of nowhere though, but I do think it's the only one left in NJ?

Just looked it up. ATCO is still going, but looks like there are proposals to turn it into a cat auction and storage place just like Englishtown.

I actually have an MSM diff and axles in the shed, just need to get arround to putting it in.

So had a good night. Weather was great, not many people actually racing, so got to make a ton of passes. A local ricer/car mod group had a show there tonight too (some were racing) so I got to show them all up by making a crap ton of passes in my car. Got to race a 124 Abarth (which I beat), as well as a Legacy Wagon 2.5T (which I lost to), finally broke 100mph, and set a personal best of 14.58@101.3mph. And made a total of 22 passes. No pictures cause I was too busy hot lapping, lol.

Popped on my RE-71r on the rear for tonight. Still spun in first, but not quite as bad. I need to get the clutch switch working so I can use launch control and flat shift. The turbo takes just a split second to get back on boost after a shift and I can feel it.

Got another 12 passes in last night. First two passes were great and both new PBs. then spun first, bogged, and missed third on the next few. Eventually got the hang of it and I am doing fairly consistent 2.2-2.3S 60 foots. Getting better, still a loooong way to go. Dropped tire pressure down to 20psi on RE71r and they seemed to work better, though running 2.5* of camber in the back is not helping with launching. Trap speed is down a hair, but no surprise, I am running wider, heavier tires/wheels up front and larger rear brakes than last time.

Also learned that Morris is faster than a tuned 124 Abarth, and only slightly slower than a stock, auto, C5? That, or something is wrong with that C5.....

Went again last night. Only got 7 passes in (busy night and people kept putting fluids down...). I have my 60' times fairly consistent in the 2.2s now, but my 330's are slower. Didn't cut a single one below 6.25. I seem to be getting off the line fairly ok, but then spinning in first past the 60ft and just not having any luck with staying hooked up. I either need to work the throttle a bit more carefully (the boost comes in hard in first and just blows the tires off) or I need to make some setup changes that I am not nearly experienced enough to know about yet. Still having a blast though. Even got to race my friend in their turbo miata, as well as have another friend soundly whomp me in a GS350....
