GReddy at 12PSI trailing to 9.

Had the Miata tuned today.
Stock 1.6 block ETD Manifold GReddy turbo 2.5'' d/p to 3'' exhaust with high flow cat CXRacing IC 2'' hot side piping 2.5'' cold side piping RX7 460cc injectors Walbro 190 HP pump DIY dual feed fuel rail Megasquirt 1 Toyota COPS NGK BKR7E plugs gapped at .045 Pretty happy with the results. The car is so much faster than before. Going to gut the cat, fix the exhaust leak, port the wastegate and go back so we can push it to 14+ PSI. The wastegate didn't like holding anything more than 12PSI even with my ball/spring boost controller. And the results (note the PSI... not bad from my research at this PSI). My tuner said that Dynapacks are like Mustang dynos and read %7-%10 lower than Dynojet. That puts it at 200-+whp on a Dynojet. But 180whp for me is still hella fast. Considering the car was stock when I first started driving it. After reading Joe's thread... I'm going to take the boost signal from after the IC and see if I can get better boost control.

Very cool. I was tempted to call you and find out how it went.
If you want, i'll make you a test pipe. That way you can save your cat for emissions. I can whip you up a test pipe pretty quick. |
It went well.. I think with no cat, fix the exhaust leak and porting the wastegate along with an electronic boost controller there is a lot more left in it. I also have a fully ported head with mech lifters that I want to throw on.
The exhuast has the cat welded in... it's not like stock. So I'm just going to have it cut out. The COPS were glorious as well. It was a last minute decision to whip them up. I hit up a local wrecker on Thursday (got em for $75 out of a Pontiac Vibe). The Vibe uses Toyotas 1ZZFE engine. All in all it cost under $100 and I didn't have to worry about spark at all. It had no problem firing at .045 all day long. |

Exhaust leak from manifold to turbo. :vash: timing was kept a bit on the conservative side as well. I need this tired old engine to last the summer. Going to fix the leak, port the wastegate and remove my cat and go back for more power.

The WG cans are an issue also on greddy kits, replace the can with a bigger one.

I'd like to take a look at the datalog from that run if you have it, or possibly get together with you and have a look at the way the car behaves. I don't particularly like your afr plot.

Perhaps once I have it installed I can make a trip down to Seattle and you can take a look at it. The car runs great and it makes decent power. It runs well in the city/stop/go traffic. So it gets the job done for now. I'm sure I can still make more power out of it though. |

So I wont be making it to Knox this year. My car just isn't going to be back together in time for this weekend :( |
I have very similar setup, I made 186whp @ 12 psi, tuned conservatively.
