this is from 2001

The blue trace is my car / 167 kPa boost
The red trace is a GT2560 on a gen 1 FM2 / NA 1.8 / 13 psi.

242 is really impressive for a 2554.

HOLY FUCK! Only 167kpa??>?!>!!>#$!@

I realize the turbo is different now but how do you think the ETD shorty compares to the AVO flow wise? The AVO appears to be the best flowing cast mani available.

JasonC SBB 10-07-2008 08:48 PM

Better.

JasonC SBB 10-07-2008 08:53 PM

I've said all along.

67 (dynojet) ft-lbs per liter per atmo of MAP is what you can get with good tuning and an efficient setup. Maybe as high as 71-72.

Power is just then a function of how little your torque droops at high RPM.

patsmx5 10-07-2008 09:15 PM

Assuming 67 kPa boost, 167 kPA Absolute.

Nice num-bars.

formula is spot on to my last good dyno run. 205 rwtq @ 13psi.

67 * 1.6 * 1.884 = 202rwtq

paul 10-07-2008 09:51 PM

hmm, not for me

67 * 1.8 * 2 != 300

x * 1.8 * 2 = 300

x = 83

paul 10-07-2008 09:53 PM

fuck, i did hp, not torque. FAIL!

that actually ends up spot on

67 * 1.8 * 2 = 241

I rounded the 14psi up to 2bar just for the hell of it. Car did make 242. Without rounding that puts me at 68.

A mistake you see and more importantly you understand. Fail is how many don't understand the difference.

Braineack 10-07-2008 11:35 PM

Man, I have been hoping to break 250 on Friday when I go to the dyno.

Looking at my last plot (with the bad turbine), I was holding torque flat till 6500.

Based off these numbers I should be close to 268rwhp at 15 pounds. :naughty:

actually you only fail because 1 bar = 14.5 psi...

1 atm = 14.7psi (101.3 kpa)

lets see...based on my last dyno @9.5psi 211 ft-lb / (1.8L * 1.646) = 71.2 ft-lb/L

JasonC SBB 10-08-2008 11:28 AM

Looks like perhaps y8s is getting 71 because his giant turbo is operating at crossover (TIP < MAP)

This SAE 242 number is at the flywheel right? Not the wheels... otherwise my plot really sucks at 215wheel, 250flywheel (14psi, GT2560R).

someone should tell the guy with the dyno dynamics setup. i made 226 ft-lbs there--at the same boost.

tell me more about this "crossover" region and how I can use it to make my car more awesome.

JasonC SBB 10-08-2008 03:08 PM

In a street car being in crossover sacrifices spoolup.

Spookyfish those are dynojet numbers ergo whp.
