My Addiction on the dyno

So I'm finally happy with the tune after ditching the 16g and installing the GReddy kit I picked up from Fireindc. An opportunity to get a couple cheap pulls on a Dynojet popped up so I tossed it on last night.

These pulls were 17psi peak tapering to 14 at redline. AFRs get pretty fat at peak boost but settle back to mid-11's. Made 262whp/239wtq on the 4th gear pull (in the video), and made 248/227 in 3rd on the next pull. The dyno operator went WOT 1K rpm later in the 3rd gear pull, so that accounts for the peak power and AFRs being misaligned between the pulls.

Not the same dyno I used pre-turbo, so unfortunately no direct comparison to my n/a numbers (94/85 on a DynoDynamics). I'm trying to figure out when to get back on that one, and I'm figuring ~15% less on it. Really happy with the numbers, pretty much right where I wanted to be, but I guess it's time to start thinking about rods, or turning the boost down (lame). If I get around to building it I'll go e85 and see what this little 15g can do, but it's mostly spun out at the current boost level. I've bumped it as high as 19psi and it does not net me any more airflow, so any gains with e85 will come mostly from higher timing/stabilizing boost/bigger exhaust, etc. (Inb4 go 1.8 fagoot)

Spools a bit late but you're on a 1.6 so actually its not bad at all. 'Grats man, that's gotta be real fun on the street

Great numbers man, congrats.

matthewdesigns 02-17-2013 02:04 PM

Thanks guys. It's fun for sure, and feels about as quick as my last Talon did at 330/360...power/weight is roughly the same now. I do wish it spooled earlier, but I'm not willing to go smaller (for cheap money), and I don't have the cash for a BB setup. So maybe a 3" exhaust will net earlier spool in the meantime while I save for rods/injectors.

Awesome! I love it man, sounds great. Are those dyno results corrected or uncorrected?

Here was that same turbo kit on my car when I dynod last fall.

Dey corrected...1.22 (which seems a little high but IDK). That makes the uncorrected numbers 215/196.

What about yours? And what gear was that?

Fireindc 02-18-2013 11:28 AM

Not sure, but i know it was "SAE" corrected. Uncorrected was around 205whp.

It looks like your block should be perfectly safe at those power levels since that is the corrected number. I'd look at the uncorrected numbers to see the real stress on the block.

Although i'm sure its fuckin fast, because mine when it made those dyno numbers really moved out.

matthewdesigns 02-18-2013 12:20 PM

Good point on the uncorrected numbers. My graph says "Correction:SAE" at the top, but there's a "1.22" in the info lines below the graph, so I figured that was how much it was corrected.

And yeah it definitely moves out...surprises lots of people.

ah, the greddy kit: none of the low-end with none of the high-end.

matthewdesigns 02-18-2013 01:17 PM

lol

Fireindc 02-18-2013 03:50 PM

To be fair, both him and I are above 6k feet elevation which hinders both spool and top end power.

This is why I'm doing my 1.8 swap :)

best was on a setup using an AUTO motor so it had a better intake cam:

Thanks for posting those. Looks like I'm not too far off of the average spool characteristics then, just 50ft/lbs better by the time it's singing :D

Guess I'll look for an auto intake cam and see what that'll do. Exhaust cam the same as a manual? Can't be terribly expensive, and I need to do a timing belt anyway.
