Default Possibly the Quickest BP Powered Miata Pass?

I've seen this car in person on the dyno and it's pretty badass. Drag racing isn't my thing but this thing moves out.

Does anyone know of a quicker BP powered Miata 1/4 mile run?

I know of a black BP drag miata making similar times over in CT. I dont remember exact times but i remember being mind blown seeing 8's out of a BP powered miata.

That's some serious brain damage to make a bp powered miata do 8s. Impressive.

What is this car making to the tire? I know Derek is making 850+. That's nasty!

I don't know how much they had it turned up. This was the first time they've ran it the whole 1/4. I think before this was just a couple 1/8 mile test days.

Never thought people would be taking the BP this far. I love it, it's a ugly duckling engine but the thing can make some power if you really try.

Definitely more than 600.

One of my friends of 25+ years who races a drag Baretta that probably has roughly equivalent weight of the miata in video, if his Baretta is heavier, probably not by a lot. My friends Barretta has a Scott Shafiroff small block that dynoed over 800 at the crank (cant remember exactly) runs best of 5.60s in the 1/8th, so has to be at least that plus some.

That thing must be ******* scary, look at it slipping out of the hole. My car is scary and I am less than his 1/8 mile speed at the 1/4. It must give you a headache to launch that thing more than a few times.
Cool!

I like how the reaction time is almost the same as the 60'

That car has been around for years. The car’s previous owner lived just a few miles from my house. It was sold a few years ago, and looks like the new owner got it going again.

Edit: If it isn’t the same car, I would be surprised. OP, can you find out the car’s history?

Super inspiring! I didn't know this was even possible with these cars. Now I really want to buy some slicks!

I found a 3 year old video from when the car was for sale. There’s not much technical info about it in the video but at least gives a better look at the car. It’s a little surprising to see they don’t have a bp04 head on it.

It's most likely the same car. Used to have a website about it and it was already in the 8's a long time ago. It's pretty unique. New owner is here in AZ and they moved to an Emtron ECU and a lot of new data acquisition, wiring, power distribution etc etc.

That youtube walk around posted above is the car.

The shop doing the work is my tuner, same shop that also tuned Ryan's HyperMiata.
