3000 RPM idle?
Just finished my turbo install with Link ECU. I loaded up the base Turbo 1 default and it started up right away! However, it is idling between 2500-3000 RPM's. My idle adjust screw is all the way in and my timing is set @ 10BTDC. I have checked for vacuum leaks and I don't think I have any. Where do I start?
It seems that it is not a vacuum leak after all. The butterfly appears to not be closing all the way. When I force it shut by hand the idle drops right down. I'll get some throttle body cleaner and see if that helps. There is lots of slack in the throttle cable, so I know that's not what is holding up. It's strange though that I never had this problem before the install, mabey some crap got in there and is holding the butterfly up.
Thanks Braineack. But by that do you mean I have a hose leak somewhere which is causing the butterfly not to close properly, or the fact that it is not closing all the way is considered a vacuum leak?
I'll throw in my recent experience. I was putting my 93 back to stock and removing MS. After removing the BMW TPS and re-installing the stock TPS, I have a high idle. Traced it down to a broken gasket at the throttle body to intake manifold. Going to try and pick one up tomorrow. When I had the TB off to remove/replace the TPS it must have broken off a piece along the edge causing the vacuum leak. Probably not your problem, but it may give you some ideas.
