Default Add Haltech Sub-Forum?

Can we get a headcount of the users on Haltech? Maybe convince the mods to add a Haltech sub-forum for support?

Comment on this thread which ECU you have.

In the meantime if you're having any issues, go ahead and PM me. I'd love to help!

Mods, this is not intended to be an advertisement. I would simply like to help anyone I can. Haltech's #1 priority is customer support.

I had a PS1000 on my MSM, will be using an Elite of some sort on current car. Would like to come down and buy you some beer at some point and pick your brain.

Given Haltech make PNP solutions for our cars I think it would be cool to be able to get support on forum.

Elite 1500 user here. I'd love to see more users and I think a dedicated sub-forum to keep info in one place would help that.

For anyone that has used both, can you comment on comparison to Megasquirt? Feel free to PM me, not tryin to threadjack too hard here.

Make it a road trip with some buds. We love to show off our new office.

We have PNP support for the OBDI 89-95 NA and 01-05 NB.
We support all BP engines if you're willing to tackle a custom wire-in job. We also support the NC engine and almost any engine swap you might want to throw at these little cars.

Truth. I work 2 buildings down the street and I constantly hear 1000+hp drag cars on the dyno while sitting at my desk. Next time I need to buy a Haltech, I'm going to threaten to call the cops and file a noise complaint if I don't get a discount.

+1 to needing a haltech subforum.

Any chance of PnP support for the 99-00 NBs? I'm genuinely interested as a 99 owner. Mazda made a ton of cars in 1999 alone so the business case seems to be there.

I begged recently but they won't do it because of minor wiring changes making it commercially challenging to provide the right parts to the right people every time.

They also feel that there is essentially no market for it.

We had 99-00 covered in the Platinum series adapters. 96-97 also. The new PnP adapter are slightly more complicated to produce in that they involve an adapter box housing a PCB that is unique to each application. These take extra time to develop or so I'm told. I'm not involved in that aspect. I did push for an successfully prototype the Elite 750 application for the 90-95 though. Someday I'll be motivated to do similar for the 96-97 and 99-00.

If I had a local guinea pig car I could keep for a couple weeks it would aid in that process...

I can probably supply that if second half of august going into September is ok. I only mess with NB1s because NB1s are best.

I thought so as well, first I had my gauges there. Realized the OEM harness is super long and just curled up. It passes through and over the trans tunnel pretty easily after taping the connectors together.

I am a Haltech user as well. Running a Platinum 500 ECU. Getting ready to junk it though in favor of a MS3 PNP. The 500 lacks a lot of features but a Haltech specific sub forum would be nice. I have had good results with my basic 500 ECU and would like to be able to help out others as well.

My 500 will be for sale soon too with a Boomslang adapter if anyone is interested.

I think a thread with a summary of all the haltech models and a little comparison would be nice to have.

Something similar to the summary of the megasquirt family we have stickied. Maybe include which one would be the direct competitor to the MS3-Pro.

The Elite ECUs are comparable to the MS3 systems depending on which tier you get. The Platinum series are getting a little dated. The 500 ecu I run now doesn't have knock control, auto tune, or A/C control. It is universal however. I ran the same ECU on my Starion and when I bought the Miata, I simply added a VTPS and uploaded a basemap which came with the ECU Manager software. I did need to connect the fuel pump wires at the AFM switch to allow the pump to come on as well as run a GM IAT sensor.

Install time was about 30 minutes. I didnt have to remove the fuse that normally is removed for MS systems. When I converted to Toyota COP I needed to run a MSD 8910 tach adapter connected to the IGN- and B+ of the diagnostic box for the tach to work. The tach worked fine with stock coils.

I think the Haltech Elite Series will prove to be superior to the MS3 as far as build quality and appears to offer more. Haltech USA has also answered the phone every single time immediately, helping me over the phone. Awesome customer service. The Elite software is pretty damn user friendly for a noob like me and you get a huge full wiring diagram, that if you make changes to the ecu, you are able to print a new wiring diagram directly from the ecu itself . As I see it, I found the price difference to be a no brainer between MS3/pro and the Elite 1500. Just look at the ECU case it's self. Water proof, high impact, molded, military grade looking. Then look at a MS3pro, and it houses the same type of multi piece not weather proof aluminum box, like a DIY MS. Not very impressive IMO.
