Cant get over 14psi.

Can you hear it pulsing? Go into the test modes and set it to pulse at various duty cycles. Then, try blowing through it. It should change in difficulty depending on the duty cycle.

Yes, ebc is doing its job. I pulled the vacuum line from the wastegate and it still wont go over 14ish psi.

What kind of Turbo?

Set boost cut to 16psi and wire the wastegate shut. Do a pull and see if you hit boost cut.

That was it, wastegate is shit. So, what's a good replacement?

What happens if you increase preload? Does that help it seal better?

Probably would but it's already preloaded as much as it should be. I ordered a turbo turbosmart wastegate so I'll just wait for it to come in.

Couldn't it also be a boost leak?

Are you on wastegate pressure or are you using an EBC or MBC?

Isn't that basically what happens when a wastegate doesn't seal properly?

Boost leak is in between the turbo pressure outlet and the inlet valves.

From my experience you'll pop that turbo running it much over 10 psi. I got a couple dead ones under my belt trying to run them at 15 psi.

Time to get a big boy turbo ( IE : something thats not EBAY )

Yeah cause genuine garrett turbine housings are known for allowing consistent boost in stock form. :bowrofl:

He simply doesn't have enough spring pressure. On a single port actuator like this you can get between 150-200% the spring pressure. That's all you'll ever get name brand or not.

Mine seems to hold 17psi to redline on a puny GT2560 so.....hmmm. Also the garrett turbos are the REAL ones not the cheap copies.

Which means nothing without knowing the spring pressure. I'd bet it's at least a 10psi spring.

My comment about garrett turbine housings was because most people seem to have to port them to avoid overboost just like people running the chinese copies have to.

Its a 12psi spring, which is why it can hold decently. Still though, The ebay stuff is inferior but to each their own. And yes, I did port my housing lol.
