Is this going to be an issue with the iat?

I didn't know how to search for this so sorry if this has been discussed before. One of my pipes was threaded for 1/2 but I needed 3/8 for the iat. I also had no use for the threaded hole in the pipe so I figured I would just use it for my iat. The adapter I bought doesn't let the sensor be directly exposed to the air. Will this be an issue? I want to make the adaptor shorter but I have no way to cut galvanized steel.

Yes, it could be an issue. Temp sensor is epoxied into the middle of the sensor and will see whatever heat the complete package is exposed to. What you want to do is expose it to the intake air as much as you can, without any insulating dead spots, etc.

Don't you have a grinder? Make some sparks!

Its not the end of the world, but yes absolutely you want the sensor in direct airflow for proper operation

I would cut it down imo. A hacksaw would cut that.

cut in half or more
you just need enough threads to thread it in and use silicone to make a tight seal

Cool. I'll do my best to cut it down. Was just hopping i wouldn't have to try to cut it.
Thanks.
