I want to weather proof a small circut.
 

I know the oems sometimes use a glue or an epoxy to weather proof small circuits. does anyone have experience with this perhaps a 2 part epoxy would be fine? any thoughts on what type of glue to use or what not to use?

look up "potting" for what you wanna do. you can buy it quite a few places. like electronics parts stores or mcmaster or amazon even.

For simple stuff like back-filling connectors, I use the cheap 2-part clear plastic epoxy that comes in the twin syringe at the hardware store. The kind that comes with a mixing nozzle is easiest, as you can just squirt it right in. This provides a good strain relief for wires as well.

This is the stuff that the "pros" use for weatherproofing PCBs. It goes on very thin, like a paint. Doesn't provide any strain relief for things like wire-to-board joints, but is fast and easy to apply, and doesn't add any bulk.

What joe says is dumb.

Just go buy some 100% silicone caulk and spoodge the ever living fucky out of it.

Wrap each connector in electric tape then "paint" it with liquid tape. If you have to open up the connector down the line simply cut into the tape and it will be simple and clean.

I was talking to the electronics guru in our shop today and he said just about any commonly available epoxy is fine, jb weld included. He did mentioned to NOT use any RTV sealants because the outgassing process they go through can ---- up electrical components.
