Default Getting and saving map from FM Link ecu

I have an issue with the cars tune which looks like it has been done around a vac leak from the PRC solenoid.

So my initial question here is: Is it possible to get the current map from the ECU, save it and make tweaks to a copy of it on a laptop?

Its an FM Link ECU on a 94 car. I have the serial link box and keypad, and have connected to the Link with datalog lab with said laptop.

I've read Plink can do this a couple of times, but that is for a Palm PC.. which I dont have, and cant seem to find if/how I could run that software on the laptop either

Making changes with the keypad seems a little risky as I cant revert should I make matters worse. And well, its not that easy to use is it

Background info on the Vac leak if you want to read the full story..

The VAC leak - Pre re-plumbing the routing was (IM - T fitting, one side to MAP, the other to the PRC solenoid - Open end. Then a seperate line IM - FPR) The open end, drawing a vacuum on idle isnt right, right? Yet a datalog revealed AFR and Target AFR were very near inline with each other.

If I re-plumb the vac lines as per the FM Manual, blocking the VAC leak (IM - T fitting, one to MAP, then other to the PRC solenoid - FPR) and do a small datalog with datalog lab the AFR at idle is way higher than the Target AFR.

Ideas very welcome

Run a data log and then open it in Data Log Lab; the map that is loaded right now should show up as the current setting. I'd recommend comparing those to the default settings from FM for your setup (sounds like you would use the "1.8L 1990-95 ECU Turbo 550cc" map) to see how different yours is.

If you haven't found it already, here is FM's tuning guide:

...and here are the default ECU settings:

And can I save the current map as a backup with Datalog lab? And even adjust the map with it on the laptop?

I have been looking through those guides yes, still feels like I'm drowning in the deep end yet though

Yep - you can adjust the map with your laptop, then write the new updated map to the ECU. I make a policy of saving all of my historical maps so that I can reference them in the future.

Sounds like you bought a car with a tune already on it? If I were you I would start with the base map on the FM website and then do the autotuning as described in FM's documentation. Make sure that vacuum leak is fixed first though!

All with dataloglab? Do I need to buy the full version for that functionality then, I didnt see anything like that tbh. I have the trial version at the moment..

This is an early Link, not Hydra..

Yes I bought the car with the tune on it, and it runs pretty good. Only recently while doing a bit of a spring clean in the engine bay did I notice this open vac line..

get the full version, it's worth it.

hookup serial link with ignition off. Open datalog lab. click file -> new -> tune or datalog. Dos screen should come up. turn on ignition and wait. It will pull all data from LINK ECU into datalog lab.

Adjust, then burn back to ecu.

Thanks for adding that

Looks like I have the Full version, for 30 days at least.. I've only had it for 4 now so I'll leave it a little while before splashing the cash
