Knock sensor sensitivity...outside noise?
Quick question- I finally have my new engine in and finally got around to plugging in the lappytoppy to check vitals while crusing around. I noticed knock voltage reading at idle and light cruise dithering between .02 and .06 (a couple jumps to .1 at idle). I don't remember having seen any such dithering on previous logging/monitoring before I replaced the engine.
However, I do know that I need to check and adjust the valves as they sound a bit like a NA 1.8 that's been run a bit hard. Is it possible that that valve train noise is being picked up by the knock sensor? Lastly- I have a bit of a clearance issue with the exhaust somewhere under the car, could the vibrations, if at the right frequency, be picked up by the knock sensor? |
Remove the brace, adjust the valves.
See if the knock goes away? :dunno: |
Well, yeah..I'd like to get the valves adjusted ASAP (btw Eddie has some shims we can use)
Ill get under the car tomorrow to adjust the exhaust. |
Doubt the valves ticking would set it off. Its gotta be stronger than that IMO.
