Default Need ecu help

Can you guys give me some input on an ecu?

I have a 04 eudm vvt engine on order that I’m going to put in my 92 na6.
With plans to eventually turbo.

It seems like megasquirt is the way most people go, I found someone selling a MS3x/3x on Facebook for $500 and that seems like a steal of a deal to me. But I don’t really know enough about ECUs to say for certain that it will fit my application best.

I am not much for electrical bits or computers in general, however I do have an electrical engineer brother so if there was a diy ecu that would be better or cheaper, I would go that way.

Any input you guys have would be appreciated, pic related is what’s being sold for 500

The easy button for you would be an MSPNP Pro for a 1992 Miata. You'd have to do some light wiring to use the VVT coils, crank sensor, and get VVT working.

Good link for the diy aspect, but hasn’t really cleared up my dilemma, I have read through the megasquirt family thread twice but electrical stuff like this tends to need to be spoon fed to me before I understand it, sorry for the noob thread.

Sorry if my post was a bit confusing, easy isn’t really an issue because I can just trade favors with my brother to have him build or modify whatever I choose.

What im looking for is the “best” ecu that will run everything I would want or need as optimally as possible while still saving as much money as I can in the process

That MS3X for $500 is a pretty good deal and it's capable of doing pretty much all of you would want plus a lot more. You will need to build the breakout box for your chassis but it looks like the seller is giving you everything you need besides a soldering iron. If you feel competent enough or know someone that is, get that and follow trubokitty.com's wiring instructions and you'll be fine. Use the VVT swap bible for the motor install.

MS3X is the bare bottom barrel you should look at, to answer your question and only your question.
