spark table question
 

I was just curious if there was a quick explanation to why the numbers are so different between the tables. They are all grabbed from base maps and i was just curious why and which seems the best/safest. This is just for learning. Not actually changing my car. Ijust haven't come across a good reason to explain it. I'm probably looking at the wrong posts. Sorry

What are your sources for these 3 maps? From a 30-second look, none of them look too out of line, and they are fairly similar. Bottom map looks conservative and could use some more timing in the low load cells between 2600 and 5500 rpm

Reasons why they could/should be different, in general:

• Different engine compression ratios (higher compression is more susceptible to detonation)
• Different fuel types (91, 93, E85, etc.. higher octane rating is less susceptible to detonation)
• Risk tolerance; more timing = more power (to a point) however less margin for error for detonation, which can end in catastrophic engine failure if significant enough
• Different experience, preference, goals..

Edit: Top map looks like one of Brain's...
