Default 01+ temp sensor moved to rear block port - #967 reroute question

So I watched this and it seemed very easy. Can I ask why no one has mentioned this vid before ?

Anyways I dont have EGR and I have a 02 motor so it looked like a cheap and easy deal for me. I don't quite like the idea of the sensor mounted at the front of the block. Then I saw a comment on the video from someone mentioning this:

"but i would like to bring your attention to the pointless plug on the back of the head that you can use to keep the coolant temp sensor in the back and avoid extending the wiring. you can see the bolt at 6:50 in your video. right above your thumb. it is the exact thread pitch and diameter as the threads on the coolant temp sensor"

Is this a new find or the beginning of a myth we should crush early ?

I know it's another re-reoute based question so I partially apologize but I could not find a definitive answer on either his video's procedure or the comment about the plug.
