Default 1.6 276bhp (251wbhp) at 18psi

1993 1.6, built motor, ms2, reroute, ev14 650's, lc1, FMIC, oil cooler, fm2 hardware, gt2560r, ebc, etc

Had my built motor mapped the other day, thought I would post up the results:

251 wbhp
276bhp at the fly
242lbft @ 5580rpm

Here's the tables:

I think there was more to give on the timing table, but I did tell him I wanted a safe tune, I think I am running high boost to offset the timing retard, your thoughts?

Car drives really well and pulls like a train!

I was about to call BS on your numbers and saw the stupid bhp figure.

You took your car and got it on a dyno, got an exact number, and now you are making up fake numbers.

you made 251rwhp. the end. Unless you pull the motor and dyno it alone, dont fake bhp numbers; no one cares.

congrats, post the graph! On the timing table, for frame of reference I run 16° at around 14-15psi. Have been since 2006 and running a MS. MY critque is that you're pulling a lot of timing as you enter boost. Watch the way the boost climbs the map as you spool and maybe add some back in in the low boost/low rpm area and see a little bump of mid-range torque.

Where is the dyno plot?

I definitely think VE and Spark tables could use a bit more work.

That spark table. SMOOTH. Jagged spark tables and sharp spark transitions can induce knock even when the timing in the cells is well below the knock threshold. And I'm really surprised you cant eek out more than 14* down low if you can get 20* up top. And whats going on with being rich at low rpms in vac? Were you having drivability issues and just going richer fixed it for you?

Whats going on with the two torque plots though? But nice numbers regardless, theres a bunch more power and low end hiding in this tune and I want to see you find it.

This is how pump gas 2554/2560R tunes look. The flow dies off up top so much that you can just dump timing into it without fear of detonation, but the midrange is healthy so you have to stay conservative there.

I'm going to stab every dyno operator who can't plot RPM on X axis.

Thanks for your replies guys. Whilst I think a little more timing could be added here and there I think my tuner got it about right. It is very drivable on roads without being too much of a handful and considering it has a standard 1.6 93 head fitted I am pleased with the results.

If there are any further comments on the tune, I will pass them on to the tuner as he admitted that he was surprised how much timing the miata will take ( he's used to building / tuning v8's, cosworths etc)

Thanks again......

Barry

hes lucky to have a dyno with a printer.

I've seen some dynos in forgien lands use pens like a polygraph.

Braineack...in "modern" society we call those plotters!

(I know, I know...how modern is a plotter these days?...I haven't sold a plotter in many years.)
