Is that a bolt in the EGR hole? Isn't the EGR pipe a pipe type fitting? Wouldn't think a normal bolt would seal for long or not mangle the manifold.

I know you and FYI your furniture looks great from the bushes. I ask because the plug I got doesn't stick out like a bolt. Pretty sure it is just a plug. My mani is burried at the moment. I'll try and get a pic when I can.
The car is on hold while waiting for parts. |

Update: The swap is going to start this weekend it seems. I have my Ignition coil bracket Mark II completed and all that's left to do is check some wiring. Hopefully no big issues arise.

Thanks for the constructive criticism. :) perhaps you could tell me why or make a useful suggestion or something. Seems a bit more helpful than a wholely negative statement don't you think?
Do a better job on that bird-nest of bullshit on the back of the engine with the ghetto-ass Homo Depot aluminum strap thing. That connector you used is great if used inside the cabin. It will hold water and corrode. I replaced the engine harness in my car for this reason. |
Stop what you're doing, order a VVT engine harness, run two wires for fuel through the trans-tunnel firewall, use the charcoal can wiring at the right shock for the VVT solenoid (yellow/red wire on connector 2 pin X I think), and run your coil connections at the OEM connector on the right side of the car.

Quick update. Engine in. Vast majority of the wiring done. Made new P/s Hose to maintain use of the newer p/s pump. Startup tomorrow. Pictures to come. Everything has gone smoothly thus far.

Again with the negativity. And the vulgarity. I hardly think any of that is necessary or very becoming of a moderator of anything. I find your language and demeanor unnecessarily rude and your posts on this thread entirely useless. So please. Go away.

It's alive! Running good so far. Welding up the exhaust and stuff tonight and a tiny bit of tuning.
|
Exhaust is done. Engine is timed. Putting things back together now. Everything went smoothly. No real issues to report.

All done

Well all is well. Drove for the first time today. Engine is quite noisy.... lots of ticking and valvetrain type noise. Nothing alarming....just odd. Perhaps its the 5w30 mobil 1 Never used synthetic before. Anyways car drives great got the idle sorted out and I did a little auto tuning. Very pleased so far. No issues at all. No leaks or anything like that. Ended up using the factory exhaust manifold and downpipe. Welded an extension section and a flange to bolt to the factory cat. I also welded my bung for my wideband in this section. I'm including pictures of the finished product including on of my many diagrams/keys and a picture of the big ugly connector. Enjoy.

It's not the oil, there is nothing fundementally different about that engine oil which will cause a noise.
Are you talking about a metal on metal sound, or funky sounding intake noises, like the old-school two step VTEC cams? The cam on my VVT daily makes some pretty cool noises. |

Got the VVTuner working today. Very very pleased with the car's newfound performance. The VVT makes a huge difference. Just got to tighten up the screws as it were and tune/drive it. What a project it's been.

Uhm mostly just ticking tappety type noises. Maybe I'm just not used to hearing this particular motor lol.

Just an update. No issues at all since the swap. Put 10k miles on it without a single hiccup. No corrosion on the harness as some were concerned about. Adding an MP62 and an intercooler to the setup right now.
|
You could always put some heat shrink wrap over the harness if they make some large enough.
