Default 93 miata + speediuno + 99 engine?

Looking to put a speediuno in my 93 miata to ditch the AFM. and eventually go turbo.

I snagged a 99 miata for $400 bucks.. soooo. off we go down that hole soon.

Plan is to get the 93 running on a MAP tune on the speediuno.

then swap the 99 engine in.

anyone else running this way?

any changes need to be made on the tune side?
Can i use the 99 Throttle body and VTPS set up?

You would most likely have to swap the 1.6 CAS onto the 1.8 motor for the swap. I would think that NB TB would work fine.

Part of converting to the speeduino is adding a VTPS to the 1.6, so that should be fine. As shuiend said crank or cam trigger is gonna be your sticking point.

Wonder if the source code has anothing for using the cam sensor/crank sensor set up.

I dont see where anyone has this swap working and noted as running on a 99 engine

There are multiple ways to make the '99 engine work in the older chassis.
You can run the engine with the CAS back in the head or with the '99 crank and cam sensor.
The code will support both.
The '99 crank and cam sensor will provide a little bit more accurate spark compared to running the CAS, but it will require some wiring work.

thanks Dawan. I figured it would.
I would rather run on a cam sensor than the CAS.

Going COP any ways and the crank/cam seems smarter.

The CAS has 4 wires

you need to split the wires between the Cam angle sensor & the Crank angle sensor.
both sensors need earth , 12 Volt & one of the other wires.
I don't recall which goes where but the SGT & The SGC need to go to one of the sensors each t9o give the same signal.

If you read the flying miata document it will tell you how to set up the crank angle sensor.
I got an aftermarket Cam angle sensor & it had isntructions for the cam angle sensor

your 99 will have a 4point trigger wheel & the crank angle sensor.

I'm unsure what settings the Speedunio has.

I got a 36-2 trigger wheel and the mega-squirt has that. no need to stuff around with base timing either.

Ive also done the COP conversion on my NA6 chassis.

What do you have against a CAS?

You can run CAS or the 99+ cam/crank setup with speeduino. Both are supported.
