Default 96 engine block hole (new to miatas)

Hello all,

I am new with building miatas and just in the process into rebuilding the 1.8. My question is that I found a hole around cyclinder 4 when the block is being placed with crankshaft side up. I am not sure if that hole is supposed to be there or other wise.

Thanks

If you are talking about the one by the oil squirter, The 1.8 BP1 block I am working on has that same hole, blocked off with a plug on the bell housing side.

My 99 looked the same way. I figured it was either from casting or a way for oil to make it's way back to the pan.

Totally normal though.
