Air intake idea
Has anyone ever placed an intake manifold on the passanger side with ducting to the firewall into the windshield wiper compartment. I understand this is a high pressure area. I know that placing a U bend right off the throttle body will reduce HP by ~2hp by I may be able to recuperate that amount by having colder air from the windshield wiper section coming in.
Im thinking about using 2.75" tubing with this flange ALUMINUM FLANGES FOR DUCTING from Aircraft Spruce And an airbox like this for the airfilter which will be placed inside the engine bay prior to the firewall. 9833 - Spectre , 3 inch Inlet Inline Airbox Lastly, I can place the IAT sensor by the aircraft spruce flange outside the engine bay so it wont heatsoak. My main concern is the IAT heatsoaking. |
Yes, many have done this. Hornetball come to mind, I think patmx5 might of had it there at one time. I source cold air from there and bring it to the filter with tubing.

Another question is, is it possible to fit a 2.5" pipe over the rad in front of it by cutting up the inside of the hood?

better idea:
install a velocity stack at the hole you cut into windshield area. cover entire cowl area with screen, then foam. enjoy your huge air filter. |
Source for velocity stacks and canister air filters (they call them "splash guards"): Air Filters.
For a later NB, I "think" you can get a large-radius 180 bend to the passenger side. I seem to remember Emilio posting some pics like that, but I can't locate them. With an NA, all the headlight gear gets in the way -- unless this is a gutted track car. Good luck! |

Would something like this fit over the rad? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ai...h2gaAqX88P8HAQ
