Best Available Turbo Exhaust
What would you recommend as the best off-the-shelf available turbo Miata Exhaust (for NB miata)?
I had my heart set years ago the Flying Miata turbo exhaust, but they no longer make/sell it. My goals and my build info are below. Only option I have found >Roadsport (3 or 4) Muffler with their optional Packed Baffle to make it quieter: https://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazd.../11-1004H.html & https://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazd...t/60-1324.html >Cobalt 2.5" Midpipe with performance cat (Yes Roadsport sells one too, but this is much cheaper, can't imagine the quality will differ that much. It is just a midpipe, convince me otherwise? https://mossmiata.com/stainless-steel-midpipe-by-cobalt vs $340 more: https://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazd...t/11-1001.html) I can't find any other feasible option. Any thoughts or advice? Goals
My Build CT2560R with the Flyin Miata 2.5" Header. Yes they sell a 3" header now, but not looking to change that anytime soon. I have so fer miles on this. Megasquirt ECU 550cc injectors Rebuilding motor with Forged pistons/connecting rods Tons of blood sweat and more tears on building this thing without lots of experience |
Oh man, if only i knew a shop in Oregon capable of awesome custom exhausts.

Curly!!!
Wow I can't believe it has been like a year since I asked you about exhaust and we talked about the custom exhaust options in OR. It has been so long that I actually forgot about that convo. I re-looked and that looks your suggestion is a good option, but it is far from close to home and I am leaning really hard towards turn-key to just install it here when I install the motor. I haven't fully decided yet, but I need to soon. I think I finally figured out EGR (no shops I looked at still had plates, but MiataRoadster, MiataShifters, when their URL finally started working again (https://miataroadster.com/), had it. Also finally found new orings for my injectors (they got lost in the shuffle). Got all my new gaskets and washers from Mazda that I was missing. For now at least, the only open hardware question is exhaust.

I made a decision and put in my order.
Here is what I ordered as an FYI. I wanted something turn-key that is 2.5" all the way through. For the exhaust: RoadsterSport 4 Helmholtz Polished Stainless + Packed Baffle Insert for RoadsterSport Miata Muffler (as I want the ability to try and make it as quiet as possible when I want to) for the mid-pipe, I resisted the urge to stick with RoadSport, as theirs is $440 more than Cobalt, so I got Cobalt Stainless Steel Midpipe by Cobalt [for reference, here is the RoadsterSport MidPipe] Thanks again Curly for the offer of custom, which I think overall would be a bit better, but I wanted to do a somewhat easy install and have it from the start. I hope this info is helpful for some. It was the only 2.5"+ off-the-shelf exhaust system I could find. |
I just saw this. I have a RoadsterSport 3 muffler & midpipe sitting in my garage looking for a home. Midpipe has a bung for a wideband. I should be able to find the dampening insert it came with for the muffler. This is in Portland proper if you want to cancel the order and give this a try. It's 2.5".

Oh man. I wish you saw this earlier. I ordered last night and they already started shipping. Canceling is not an option at this point. And with such big items, returns are not either :(
Oh well. It is what it is.
