Easiest way to pickup 10 hp on a stock 01 Miata? No problem, just carry this around in your trunk:

Why 10hp exactly, for the ~7% increase in power that you won't notice?

+1 for the sawzall trick

Get a header and intake without the MAF so that the engine flows better. Install a lightweight flywheel so it revves faster. Buy one of Revenant's Enhanced DIYPNP plug and play ECUs and tune it to extract more power from the stock engine by running more timing. I plan to turbo my car, but this is what I have done up to now.

Intake, exhaust, Megasquirt. +20whp, quiet until you floor it, super reliable.

Have you done any weight reduction methods? Try taking your passenger seat, floor mats, jack, any junk, spare tire, etc out. That's about a 10hp gain, relatively.

Another idea: harness these bad boys up to the front of your Miata.

I'm so bummed. I went here so I could get 40mpg and another 35HP (conservative estimate, BTW). However, the device only fits 91-09 Miatas. It doesn't fit a 1990.

Oh, the injustice of it all . . . .

In all seriousness... sc3, we deal in more than 10 hp gains here. That is why you got sarcastic answers. miata.net in the na section of power adders will gladly help you. They are also having a group buy on vagasil at the moment. Really, A basic assed turbo kit will give you 40 more hp and be a few more dollars more than waste of money n/a bullshit.

You guys have failed my friend slo_sc3's final attempt at justifying his continuing ownership of my miata.

All he wanted was 10hp. Now he is trading it in for a vette. I am sad.

OK

Listen to me, this is a serious post.

Every car on the planet gets its first 10hp gain the same way, advance the timing, running high octane, and a new intake, or intake mods like cutting holes in your airbox and using a high flow filter.

The reason everyone here has been an *******, including my first post in this thread is that this forum does not tollerate silly questions, and im sorry yours was.

What you should do is have a read around and you will soon realise that all the noob questions that dont really need to be asked get answered the same way. If you asked "I searched a fair bit but couldnt find any basic explanations regarding what the a/r means on a turbos spec sheet, can someone please explain it simply or provide me some links to read up on it.

Thankyou,
sc3"
Then you would get serious answers.
If your not a douche, do yourself and this forum a favour and dont post for a few weeks till youve read up a lot more around this forum. Use the 'search' feature instead of 'New Topic' feature for a month and then start chatting.

Someone please follow this post with a serious post like mine to give the noob a chance at redeaming himself.

Dann

Shift closer to red line, take the junk outta the trunk, run a good synthetic oil and have fun with it
