You would still want to probably bore the cylinder out at least .020, there is no way that the pistons look like that and didnt at least gouge the cylinder walls. Im with everyone else, you need to get a junkyard motor and get the tune right before you do anything else. Looks like you were experiencing a lot of detonation because usually the rods go before the pistons on a b6/bp miata engine.
