Default boost stock motor

hey im planning on boosting my 1.8 stock motor. i dont want to do anything crazy just dd at 9lbs. will i be ok boosting the stock motor? i want to know what u guys think.

i love this thread already, it is most certainly relevant to my interests.

yeah 9 you should be fine. 12 is probably a safe number..but it really depends on the rest of your setup. 250whp is kind of the same reliable established limit, assuming you have a good tune of course.

Yes, you can boost a stock Miata engine. using the "SEARCH" is real helpful.

9psi will definitely blow it. And I'm assuming you're running a massive turbo from ebay, no engine management, and you have vtec stickers on your car.

Right On ! V-TEC Sticker alone is good for 50whp.........

We aren't that familiar with B18 motors here. But in my professional opinion I'd say you would be fine with 9 psi. Please, no more than 10 psi on the stock longblock. And make sure to get a respectable FMU so you can tune your B18. Okay! . Try http://www.honda-tech.com/ for more information.

Don't boost your engine. It will blow.
Boost your transmission. Those can handle up to 80psi

lmao!!!! u guys are too funny!! yes i just came out of the honda game. and i bought a miata so i need some help.. i did some reasearch and i found a stock 1.6 running full boost at 8lb for 8 hours and it was good. i just want to know what everybody else thinks.

I've run at least 10psi for 10hrs...just ate lunch and it's still going fine.
