I sold my built 1.8L for $25k. He can't sell his built 1.6L for $12k.

Who's stupid, again?

Nobody here said a 1.6 couldn't make power. The point was why not start on a slightly better platform. Also, outside from myself, nobody suggsested you build a 1.8 over a 1.6. The issue arose from the lack of background research. A quick search would've shown that the 83.5mm pistons wouldn't fit your 1.6. I know this because I googled it for you as I didn't know the answer myself.

Do the same thing to a 1.8 and make 20-25% more power. Initial costs are the same. Who's the dumbass?

When it comes to building a 1.6 nobody is telling you that it can't be done, they're just telling you that its not the best idea.
Normally an engine makes power proportionally to the increase in psi, ie if you run 14.7 psi, one atmosphere, double atmospheric pressure, your power should double.
Up to 14.7 psi a 1.6 should make around 12hp-20hp less, however as you go past that the gap spreads because the relationship is not linear.
As chevy guys like to yell "THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT". That being said I am building a 1.6. It is not optimal however if, for some reason you are
very stubborn and decide to build a 1.6 realize it will be more expensive and make less power, spool later, and in general be a worse performing engine.
End of the day do whatever you want!

Bye.

Maybe you'll find someplace else that spoonfeeds even more than the obnoxious amount you were spoonfed in this thread.

Also: You can't delete your account. Empty promises that we're all sad you can't fulfill.

I'm sure one of our overlords would love to help him with that.
