Really? Crap. I search all the time and for some reason find nothing. Perhaps my search skills need revision. Anyways, hope this helps someone in the future.

It's spread around in build threads and random thread titles, it's no surprise. I've committed the lobe position to memory recently, but always remember struggling with it in the past, although my in/ex sprockets are labeled. Just the slots that give me trouble.

Ahh that makes sense why I couldn't find it. Feel free to rename this thread if it helps future searchers in finding a solution. Pretty easy fix considering the length of the process we went through to diagnose it.

Did you bitch out the machine shop AND Mazda? I can't belive BOTH of them got it wrong. It clearly states E and I on the gears, how hard is that to ---- up? Really?

They both say E and I. If his "fail" pic is any indication, he use whiteout to mark the "E" on the intake cam, and the "I" on the exhaust cam, I could see where the confusion came from.

My concern was if he'd pulled the cams, then swapped 'em. I'm kind of ---- when it comes to wear patterns, ramp rates, lift, duration and the like.
