and then go ahead and follow the steps already outlined in this thread to troubleshoot your REAL idle control valve

block that shit off and then adjust the screw. Did the 1.6 use this for hot restarts?

Blocking the hose that went from the intake plumbing to the the iac that's under the throttle body brought down my idle. And I'm able to use the idle screw to a adjust my idle. This is not a permanent fix. But I'm it will got me started.

So we still don't know what your IAC duty cycle is in Megasquirt.... and if you have even tried tuning it with Megasquirt to fix your idle.

There is nothing in the 1.6 ecu for adding idle valve duty on cold starts, if the coolant is cold the thermostat in the air valve will be closed and the idle will be faster. It's action can be completely replaced if you know how to tune.

Mine is still installed with no block off plate and no coolant lines, it does not bother my idle enough for me to bother making a blocking plate.

Sounds like my problem, the first time I started my car with Ms and had no clue what I was actually doing.

Find the post on How to tune your idle. I forgot who wrote it. Anyone? Was it hornetball??

Edit: I still don't know what the fuck I'm doing.
