can i use a 1.8 throttle body with no issues?
i'm swapping a 1.8 into my 93. i tried to install the throttle body adapter last night, and screwed it up.
will i have any issues if i just buy a 1.8 throttle body and use that?

The issue is the TPS sensor, the 1.6 used an on/off tps while the 1.8 used a potentiometer. If you are using a 1.6 harness and ecu you need the on/off type tps. Either adapt the 1.6 tps to the 1.8 throttle body or switch to a 1.8 harness and ecu, or go with a megasquirt.
I've got my old 1.6 throttlebody and spacer I made lying around if you need one, it's not pretty but it worked.

The problem I'm having with the TB spacer is that I drilled the holes in the intake mani, and when I tried to tap them I just wallered out the holes and dicked them up.
I don't really know what to do... Unfortunately I make up for my lack of mechanical skill most of the time by throwing money at my problems

No you would need to figure out someway to adapt it.
Is the braineack MS setup for a 1.6 or a 1.8?
On the MSPNP the 1.6 tps isn't even used, I'm not sure if brain sets his up that way or not. You need to confirm with him what your MS needs to see as far as TPS signals. If it doesn't use a tps signal just install the 1.8 tb and leave the tps unplugged, if it does use a tps signal then install the 1.8 tb and get a 1.8 tps pigtail and wire it into your harness.

Skip the adapter and bolt up the 1.8 tbody. With the MS ECU, you actually don't need either the TPS or IAC valve--however if you locate the proper 1.8 connector pigtails, then you can go ahead and use them.

Forget about the TPS. Just install the 1.8 TB directly with no modifications.
Your ECU can run without TPS for now. When you go MS, then worry about it.
