Since i'm getting more help from this site then any other i figured i would ask this here .

I went on M.net to see how to set up the timing . Intake cam"I" vertical "E" on the gear should line up with the "E" on the backing plate . Exhaust cam "E" vertical "I" should line up with the "I" on the backing plate .

Well looks like my intake cam is off about 1 tooth an the exhaust is off about 3 . Is this normal or like has been suggested i jumped timing . But if i jumped timing how would the cams be off that much .

I'm looking to pick up a timing light does this look like a good one . It's not the most expensive one out but looks to have all the same features of the ones that cost about double .

Car is running plastic wire connectors fell behind the plastic cover and must of allowed the timing to jump . I just finished getting it back together and taking it for a test ride . Has no power. Can i adjust this with the CAS to give me some back .

Big thanks to all those who give me ideas . I was starting to lose hope in this project .

Ok didn't want to start another thread but car won't start again . The start just clicks now ,I had to walk away from it because it was pissing me off going to get at it again tomorrow .When it did start is sounded like it was having a hard time and this was with alt. belt off . Is it possible i have the timing belt to tight .I'm hoping it didn't jump again .

My timing light: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G1059/
$55, has knob, makes with the flashing, is win. Works on my 73 F250 & Miata, just make sure the knob is at 0°. The only feature I wish it had was a tach, but I can live without

Click but not crank... check voltage? No, seriously...

Timing belt refrence?

Timing belt too tight? Skip to 7:00

Thats what i needed looks like i put it on to tight . Guess its time for a new belt anyway I also think my crank key isn't in right . this was the 1st time i did the timing belt on the car so as long as i didn't blow it up i guess i'm ok .

thanks for the videos .

But seriously, if all else fails, go back to the basics. Review the work that you've already done and make sure you got it right. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
