A "thread-jacker" huh? Could y'all make a newbie to this forum feel any more un-welcome?? I chimed in because we had similar problems and I was hoping to learn from you OR share with you what I figured out. But clearly your experts, Erat and Braineack, will help you. Besides...what would a guy building a Miata-powered Lotus 7 from scratch be able to learn or share with anyone on this forum...heck, I only have 3 (now 4) posts!

Well, good luck with your situation. I am overjoyed to have figured out my problem and get my car running last night (a major milestone in my build project), but I'll leave with my tail between my legs...feeling embarrassed for "thread-jacking."

I won't re-visit this forum. Too many "know-it-alls" and "forum-bullies" for my taste!

I can't tell if you're mocking us, or are truely angry...

If you're angry, then i can't tell if you're an idiot or fail to see the humor in brain's post...

Either way, i guess it's not a good idea for you to stick around.

I didn't mean to disrespect you or anything. Lol I don't want to turn you away from the forum I like it a lot and they did the same shit to me when I first started posting here and at m.net and I think cr.net too, just because I was less knowledgeable, so I don't want to do that to you because I didn't like it either. I'm always welcome to learning from older, wiser, more educated people than me. I hope this will keep you from leaving the forum as I've learned a LOT on here and I think you will too.

Okay. I will let you know, I may have found a couple of the things I need. What harness do you have?

I already tried that. Borrowed one off "Wuga" on here, he had just changed over to MS and it was a working ECU, but it didn't fix my problem

Okay, so I think I may have done some real noob shit. Someone answer this for me please, and don't ignore me or flame the shit out of me for being a noob. This entire time I thought I had spark because during the process of turning the key, each one of the plugs gives one little spark, I believe when the key hits RUN. This was, to my interpretation, me having strong spark. Now today, I came up with a theory that maybe that little spark didn't neccesarily mean that I have strong spark. So I removed all the plugs and put them on the valve cover properly so they would spark, and when I turned the key they all gave the little spark like they always have been. But when I tried to crank they did not spark. I didn't have a helper so I could only see one from my pov and I wasn't there to hold it onto the valve cover but it didnt move at all. So am I a complete noob in thinking that this one little spark at the beginning was good enough to rule out my CAS?

Don't take the spark plug out. All you need to do is pull the lead off the coil while someone cranks to see if the arc jumps from coil to wire.

curly May 9, 2013 08:24 PM

ahahahahahahahahaha yes.

Some ECUs will fire the coils regardless of cam/crank input when you power them up IIRC. Stock ECU I'm assuming from your signature? This thread is old enough I don't remember.

They need to be firing in pairs, 1&4 and 2&3 as you crank. Until you get that, you're not starting anything.

94LagunaR May 9, 2013 09:12 PM

Yes stock ECU. I'm going to 500x check all my wiring tomorrow since I just put everything back together today. Regardless what's happening right now is: When I turn the key to RUN all 4 plugs spark at the exact same time once, I hear a click, and the RPM gauge jumps from 0-100 or so RPM all at the same time. When I crank the motor there is no spark at all. I tried putting the plug on the valve cover, the bolt that holds the valve cover and touched it directly to the head where connect the hoist to lift the motor out. No spark. Fuel is in the rail. I hear the pump and since I removed the injectors I damaged 2 of the O-rings so they are leaking. So I have fuel. Don't worry, I covered them up when I had the plugs out and this whole test only lasted about 3 seconds. At this point I'm pretty convinced that it's the CAS
