Default Coolant Reroute sensors not fitting

1.6L '93

I bought a coolant reroute kit and the block off plate for the front thermostat housing has a hole that is far too small for the thermal switch. The seller claims that it was made for the OEM switch but I have two of them at home and they're both the same size.

Am I missing something? Why is the hole so small?

The sandwich plate for the rear also has some weird sizing, although I didn't go as far as to remove my sensors in back yet. Here's a pic of what the sandwich plate looks like (with the thermal switch "in it" for comparison)

Are my sensors weird/aftermarket or did the seller just send me the wrong kit?

I'm pretty sure you just use the sensor in the back. The front plate/neck is sealed except for the smaller lines coming off. Coolant reroute gets temperature from the rear of the head. Take the rear sensor off and it should fit in the sandwich plate. Also the front plate just has a threaded bit that goes in. Where did you buy the kit from? Post a picture of all the fittings and plates you got in the kit.

Bought it off a local guy. AFAIK the 1.6's had a thermal switch that grounds out the fan at a certain temp, activating it. 1.8 fans were ECU controlled or something.

Basically, I think I need to redrill and retap the block off plate only, since the current hole is too small for my thermal switch

That work as well. I'm speaking from limited experience and put a reroute on my 1.8 motor for swap into a 90 chassis. Also have fan that's ecu controlled lol.
