Default Cooling Upgrade

Hey guys,

yesterday i blew my radiator and i hope only that- i think my thermostat wasnt opening, lets just hope the head gasket survived that but after reading a few threats i think this is hopeless ( gauge got to HOT and i know this is like.. really hot)
anyway i need some advise on cooling system upgrades, right now i dont have a splash guard because i got the car without it, planning on buying one, i also do have a 1.8VVT that is going to be built for about 350HP that is going to go in in exchange for my 1.6 ( everything OEM) so i need a radiator that even then provides good cooling.

i looked up some stuff and now im thinking about either buying a Mishimoto X-line radiator with mishimoto fan shroud kit for 550€ or figuring out something with a Koyorad Hyper-V radiator for 395€ and i dont know how much for a fan shroud. Any experience with either of these? i just know thecarpassionchannel has the Koyo on his 400whp miata.

i have a 1993 NA with no A/C, engine is 1.6 with no Performance upgrades

best regards

IMO the most important piece of information is how the car will be used.

the car will be used as a daily/street car with some track use like 2-3 times a year at most, very little winter use because of salt, coolant reroute will probably go in before the first trackday too but i just dont know what is better, the koyorad seems to be really good but its only have the depth of the mishimoto so im asking myself and you which way to go, i dont want to create a heat sink, i just want my stock 1.6 to dont burn up in flames and my 1.8 when its built to do the same.

Here.

You need to do more research. Read more threads here about cooling systems and what people are actually doing.

Nobody here is using mishimoto fans successfully. Nobody making 300 horsepower will be able to use either of those little radiators you mentioned.
Spend less time shopping and more time researching build threads here and see what people have done right and wrong in their cooling efforts. Researching is the best answer I can give you.

You say you were shooting for 350 horsepower so I assume you are doing the BMW transmission swap.
