COP upgrade, did i get fu**ed?
Well I bought a spare "1.6" ignitor. Opened it up and noticed it only has 7 pins?? WTF! It's pin 4, the tach and diagnostic box pin. Is there anyway to fix this with a clean install or do I need to get another ignitor?
Bought it off of EBAY and it turns out it's for a damn DSM. |
pics please.

ok i see what you're saying. it's possible that this particular appilcation didnt get it's tach singal from the coils.
this is still okay i think, let me look at diagrams. |
So would I just hook it up to pin 5? Instead of bonding 4 and 5 together? That's what I'm guessing by looking at the 1.6 schematic.
yes. that's what i was thinking. but it think the merge was inside the ignitor originally so doesn't really help you.
but you can then slice the wires within the engine harness and call it a day. B/L to B/W edit: yeah, that's what I would do in this situtation. |
Is everything going to work, like the tach? And do I need the jumper in the diagnostic box?
do you have an aftermarket ecu?
Not yet, Reverant is building me one.
then you don't. reverant shoudl be providing pull up within ecu.
So it fired right up, granted I had to do some filing on the ignitor box to remove some plastic bumps, but the tach doesn't work. Any thing I can do to make it work with the stock ECU until I get my DIYPNP?
It didn't work tying the two wires outside the ignitor like I suggested?
Oooohhhhh..... so 4 would tie to 5 outside the box? Using the numbers given on the COP writeup.
