Default cracked engine block :D :(

Found the problem with my engine and where the water was going..

Found a small crack inside cylinder nr3.

Havent heard much about cracked engine blocks in miatas before. Have i missed something, or have i been unlucky.

Engine has not been pinging, not been overheating and has only been running a safe 396whp for a few years..

cant really be mad, or depressed, considering the amount of abuse this thing has seen

323gtr engine blocks sourced and will be rebuilding asap, just want to know if anyone else has been able to crack the cylinders of these engines.

How much overbore? +2mm and 20+psi of boost don't mix well.

+1mm overbore. wiseco pistons from fm, and running only 23psi boost.

not too worried, just have to get another block and rebuild to similar specs.

just wanted to know if anyone else here has cracked their blocks

Never heard of that happening before, must have just gotten lucky :P

Next time you build the motor, make more power, 396rwhp is sooo 3 years ago lol

yeah, and Inglar is aiming for more than 400, so i will just have to raise the boost a bit i guess..500whp setup would be next on the list i guess... a 500whp turbo miata must be scary fast.

bringing back a thread from the dead.. i rebuildt that engine with a new block, and have used that engine at between 23 and 30psi boost for 10s of thousands of kilometers and track use ever since.. i dont know why the old block cracked.. but its obviously not common
