Default Do I need to adapt 1.6 tb to 05 1.8 with MS2 DIYPNP

Ok so i got a screaming deal on a 04 1.8 and am going to be swaping over. I no I need motor brackets and egr block off do i really need to adapt the 1.6 throttle body over. I already switched to Variable tps when I went MS. Can I just wire in the VTPS from the 04 right. Anyone know the which wire goes where.

Thanks

motor brackets? Engine will bolt right in?!

No you don't need the 1.6 TB adapting, just use the 1.8 unit. Consider the JBPerf idle driver board though as the MK2 1.8 idle valve needs a higher frequency which as standard the MSII can't drive at a decent resolution.

Wiring is easy with a multimeter, just work it out.

Sure you can. But you aboslutely don't need to. Why would you think that?

You can, you don't have to. I think the NB throttle body is way more compact and better for that reason. Makes intercooler piping easier.

However, you'll need a throttle cable bracket or a 1.8 throttle cable or ???

I think the cable bracket will help.

Use the '04 TB, make sure you get the TPS and IAC plugs, and get the NB throttle cable as well.

Thanks for reminding me, Savingaids. I forgot to order the conversion bracket from FM for my daily.

Just order an NB cable from 2nd Chance Roadster or Parts Group. Cleaner and more reliable, and it bolts into the NA chassis just like it should.

Idle air control? I know the 1.6 has a one wire hook up. will that work with the 1.8 idle control?

What's the difference between NB throttle bodies? e.g. 99 vs 04?

How is it cleaner or more reliable than one piece of machined metal? I'm not trying to lay under the dash...have you seen the interior shot?

Well I took a look at the 04 tb and the idle control has 2 wire/terminals as opposed to the 1 in the harness

Was wondering the same thing. Dubious on the reliability claim, my home made conversion bracket has yet to fail in 4 or so years of track/road use.

I have the same results with my FM piece on my 1.6 w/99 swap. I know Savington does a lot of work on his back, I don't care for it.
