You can take it apart and remove the whistler and see. I was just being lazy and snipped it and got pissed at hearing Barney the purple dinosaurs mom queef everytime i shifted. It is real quiet. Actually it isn't really noticable until you get to about 10 psi. Even then its just a quiet whoosh.

Oh PS-
If you speak well and do a solid build, dont talk like a dip shit, dont think drift is faster than grip, and search before you ask, you can get along here ;) I did some amateur drifting with 200hp in my 94. Mostly because it was cheap and the track was 10 minutes from my house and friends were running it. I can say I sucked but had a blast. With 200hp and about 200ft/lbs of torque you can definitely get the car sideways if you know what your doing. Rappadan took my car out and said it was one of the best setup miatas he had driven and did plenty of 65+ mph drifts in it. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3163/...8b1e3f9a_b.jpg |
shuiend: No kidding? This is great information to learn. I might try to sqeak out 250 whp but I'll be quite happy with low 200's for getting started with decent power drifting.

Hell, I did a drift event back in a day in my red car with intake, header, exhaust, and badly tuned Megasquirt. Figure about 100-110whp or so? It was very fun and I definitely learned how to control my car better :). I actually picked up almost 3 seconds around track after that drift event because I wasn't afraid to get my rear end a little loose at 80mph.

urbansoot: That's what a lot of the 240sx guys who buy the sr20 swapped in or the V8 guys don't have: SKILL! I think every drifter wanting to learn should start in a low power, short wheelbase car like the Miata or AE86. IMO I've become a much better drifter from starting with my car due to the difficulty the car has.

Oh I have no problems hanging my tail out on the track if it happens. I had a blast going up turn 5 at Road Atlanta in 4th gear on slicks at full lock :giggle: It's a bad habit for me now though, esp. when doing autoX. I have a natural reaction when the tail steps out to just let it keep going and plant my foot....which is NOT what I need to be doing if I am trying to take 1st in my class.

35-40mph for drifting? Thats not even second gear!
Also, check out my build thread, its pretty much exactly what your plans seem to be. |
Real men 4-wheel drift.

I Remember seeing this guy on YouTube with a WRX that drifted an entire warehouse complex. Guy was pretty much a god! His name is totally left my mind. What can I say? It's 230 am here! lol |
