Default Flowmaster muffler , making my car slower?

hey everyone, just installed a Flowmaster muffler on my 99' nb, which is about half the size of my stock muffler. The car seems to sound really good...but noticed that it's slower... Could this be the issue? wondering if i should go back to the stock exhaust...

That's okay it's a worthy trade off sound is more important. Do you has turbo? Is muffler a straight through design? What type of ecu do you have?

your exhaust pulse and flow had changed which will affect your power band. betting your new muffler is a greater diameter then stock.

Don't have a turbo yet, no ecu either. The design I'm not sure of , looks like a typical muffler .. I have only installed a flyin Miata clutch kit (10lbs) , raceland coilovers and complete tune up. Looks for ways to make the car stronger but didn't know this exhaust would do the opposite. Thank you guys for the inputs. Any suggestions on cheap power upgrades? Once again, thanks.
