Default FM Intake Shield Stay or GO

I am was wondering if the FM intake shield is worth keeping. The way I see the cold air that gets there is already going to immediately get hot as soon as it reaches the turbo anyways so is it really doing anything. Plus have the shield makes it somewhat awkward to close the hood. Here is a picture of my bay before I removed the AC and depowered the rack not that it matters I am just trying to clean things up a bit. Next Ill probably relocate my washer bottle and water resivore(sp).

It works well for me, it lowered intake temps. Especially when idling, or going in slow traffic.

Hey now I like my redneck ghetto plates. I need to update the picture I have since I sanded them down and riveted them to make a nice shape. Yeah its ghetto but it works.

If you search for threads about cold air intakes there is some good stuff. Basically even with a turbo and IC, colder air in = colder air out.

"cold" and "hot" are not binary states. Colder air going into the turbo will result in not-quite-so-hot air coming out of it. The effect is further mitigated by the intercooler, but all else being equal you want the air going into the engine to be as cold as you can arrange it.
