Noticed the car was leaving behind oil when parked and eating through oil between changes so I did a dye test. Five minutes of running the engine, there's a green trail from the front main seal to the oil pan. Good times.
Im in the same boat, my front seal just started leaking a little bit. I have 3000 miles on my build and of course the Boundary Pump seal has started leaking. I had thought I was lucky....ugh.
Yeah I'm running an early 2016 pump from 949 with I assume BE gears. I saw the threads and I was like "lucky that wasn't me." Then it was me.
Honestly this is not too much hassle, I'm just worried I'll change the seal and it will leak again. Then again my first rebuild didn't leak for over 10 years, so maybe not.
That seal puller tool is the best thing I ever bought.
As far as using an install tool, I didn't this last time and my car is leaking a quart every 500mi. Doh. Gonna put fresh seals in when I have the time. Had to do a loctite fix on it though, so getting it appart is gonna suck...
My car has no front water neck and no belt covers and you can see the cam seals directly from the front of the engine. They aren't leaking. As long as you route stuff away from the front of the engine and properly secure hoses and wires, the belts aren't a hazard.
