Default Coolant Re-route sans Heater Core

I searched around and couldn't find a whole lot on re-route options that bypass the heater core. I apologize in advance if I missed anything, but does anyone have any experience with this? The engine is a 1.6.

Only one question before you ditch the heater core.

Do you really need to lose that little bit of weight? You will also lose that a bit of coolant... an extra "cooling" system and a way to defog the front windows in downpours/muggy conditions.
