Thanks guys. That's what I wanted to hear, and kind of what I was thinking.
So I've been running it around town since I last posted. Got the VE dialed back in, still some long term tweaking to do on idle and such but it's running at least as well as before, if not better. The sound hasn't gotten worse so I took it on my 90 mile commute today. Car ran beautifully, mix of 80mph and stop and go. No noticeable change in sound with about 250 miles on the re-rebuild now. Changed filters at 100 miles on the second oil fill, still shimmery but nothing large at all.
So the noise is still a little unnerving but I guess it's fine. I'll keep driving it and see what happens. Plan to switch to synthetic at 500 miles, and I might have an opportunity for a dyno run next weekend.

I'll post back if it blows up. Until then, it's about time I get back on a track!

If it hasn't blown up by now, it's not likely to. The first 100 miles are always the scariest.
