Default Fuel injector cleaner stuff

Yes, I know the proper way to clean injectors is to send them out to a professional.

What about for routine maintenance .... what brand of off-the-shelf injector cleaner do ya'll recommend? How often should I use it? Does it really work, or is it a placebo?

I don't have much faith in any, but if I had to use one it would be Chevron Techron stuff.

Out of all of the cleaners that is the only one I have heard good things about over the years. Whether or not its placebo effect or not I can't say. Just saying if I had to use one, that would be the one.

We sell and use the BG 44k too. I'm with you on whether they work or not. I don't know.

I've had good luck personally with 44K, and I used to sell it at the dealership I worked at. I never had any complaints, only compliments. As for cheaper stuff, I love Techron, and use it when I have the need.

STP is ****.

Some believe that ethanol in fuel does a good job of cleaning the fuel system. Thoughts from the engineer class?

I'm no engineer, but I know that ethanol is great about eating the seals on fuel systems that were not designed to use ethanol.
