Fuel pump doesn't fit

I am replacing my stock fuel pump in my 1991 Miata with a Walbro 190lph pump but the new pump is larger than the old. Has anyone else had this problem? Does a 94-97 pump assembly work in a 91?

you have to mod the assemble to make it fit.

That was what I was thinking but I always need feed back. Thank you for saving me more money! It will be able to go somewhere else in the car.

so you were replacing the pump for no good reason in the first place?

No I was about to by a fuel pump assembly from a 94-97 but it looks like that will not fit the tank anyway.

1.8 tank is taller so the 1.8L assembly will probably foul the bottom of the 1.6L tank.
