You guys are forgetting the other option.

Add some springs to your nice motor and just

rev higher.

Increased RPM increases wear 10 fold. Even worse if the flow isn't there to support it.

X2. They can use the excuse that the 8.8 hangs too low, but the 7.5's which don't break stay nice and tucked up. The only other thing I can think of is the fact the CTS diff is prettier looking then the 8.8/7.5.

What wears?

Other than everything?

I mean, if you're going to have wear, the extra minute a year you spend above 7200 RPM isn't gonna do that much will it? Unless you have some clearance or det or bearing problem why would wear be that big a deal?

our heads flow like dogcrap. there is no point to revving high unless you got some serious headwork/valvetrain

if you make power up there you make power. also even if you have stock head and you drop in power you will still be making more power up there than at your shift rpm drop

sense makes that

Lucky for me - I just ordered the Honda type R copy intake mani. I'll get working on the transplant in a couple of weeks I'm sure. From what I can tell from my torque curve falling off, it's because of my intake manifold.
