Measured plenum volume (without runners) was something like 2.3L. Runner volume was about .5L

Have any pics of before? I've never opened mine up to see whats inside.

Braineack 01-12-2012 03:10 PM

how long are the runners now, like 3-4"?

TurboTim 01-12-2012 04:04 PM

Oh please God tell me you did that while the manifold was still attached to the head. That'd be awesome.

Probably around 6 inches? Car is still quite peppy out of boost. I mean, if you did this to a naturally aspirated car then you might loose what, 5hp down low? Since boost is what makes power FWIW I didn't notice any spool hit when I took off my ungutted mani and put this on.

Of course and like a ------- baller I shoved a pile of magnesium shavings down there to take care of the aluminum chunks-- to smooth out the walls n stuff

aaronc7 01-12-2012 08:58 PM

did you do all the porting yourself?

hustler 01-12-2012 09:06 PM

Where did the Mg come from?

mx594m 01-12-2012 09:32 PM

:hustler:

Off my crotchal region

Sean mr 2JZ MX5 did most of the gutting with a mill. shi was then smoothed with some aggressive rotary diamond coated bit thing.

All the EGR and vacuum port crap was welded shut with bannanas

I'm all about the Hg.

Miater 01-13-2012 01:31 PM

I had planned to close up the open ports in my manifold with molten alloy. After reading over this all encompassing thread Im now goin with the bananas method. Less clean up and no gas production.

Braineack 01-13-2012 01:39 PM

and high in potassium.

Miater 01-13-2012 02:09 PM

We could all INTAKE more of that.

pdexta 01-13-2012 02:41 PM

Thanks for the pics. I need to get reinspired to start gutting my extra manifold. It's such a slow PITA process I doubt I'll ever finish. Anyone have suggestions on what kind of tool to use for this? I've just been randomly picking up different cutting tools and nothing has seemed to work all that well.
