my plan was to use a air die grinder for the big work, then down to dremel. im not sure what kind of bit is best to use. something for rapid removal for the grinder, then probably something similar on the dremel....to a grinding stone, down to coarse sand paper, then fine sand paper

You can cut a lot of the top half with a saws-all. Harbor Freight die grinder. Used carbide bits, the trick with them is to spray WD-40 on both the bit and the piece, to keep the bit clean. I had my top half done in a couple hours.

i did this to my fwd BP vics manifold and didnt notice any change in power with my butt dyno.

After doing this to Faeflora's mani I would suggest anyone else who goes on to do this take some better measurement than I did. If you notice the one huge flat spot in between the two runners it because that is a huge chunk that needs to come out but you can not mill it down as far due to the shape of the mani. Had I known this ahead of time I would have left more material so it could be more pointy when complete. Other than that it is a matter of just hogging the hell out of it until you are happy.
