Thoughts? Too rice?

I'm expecting to get flamed, just picked this brand-new unit up off a Supra buddy for $100, it retails for ~$400. Yes, it's real, captures that mad-tyte JDM look. I didn't buy it with the intention of putting it on my Miata, but the thought is now crossing my mind -- especially because it'll fit. Lemme know, brahs.

If you put a 2JZ in your miata then its not rice at all its supposed to be there. Without a 2JZ or a serious motor to back it up I would say it could go either way. All depends on how you make it look when you put it in. I would do it. My vote is not rice.

Is your miata even turbo'd? If it's a pretty stock car (engine), then yes, total rice.

It's got a 16g. I'm in the process of sorting everything so I've yet to update my signature.

not fond of the cf casing of the muffler, but that odd flamed tip always kinda turned me on...lol.....

A 4 3/4 inch tip on a Miata... Save it for something else.

Haha, I don't know. My EVO friend wants to buy it but then I still need a muffler. I figure I can tuck it as much as possible and just hope no one calls me out on it. I hope it doesn't sound too bad.

For some reason, I like it.

For a rice can it is most likely the best sounding one you will ever find. I would love to see it on your car but I am not sure how you will get it under there. If you do please post pics because I will most likely do the same in the not so far future.

The C5Z. I love the C6Z but those are already fast I like it when you have to work to make something fast. That's why I got a miata haha

List it on ebay starting at $99 and whatever you get for it, spend on the miata wisely. Putting that on the miata just cause is stupid. :2cents:

A 3 inch mandrel bent straight pipe with a straight thru muffler is me. That will become popular. Damn.

I've got a knockoff on mine and it sounds fine. I have mine where just the tip sticks out, you really have to tuck the muffler body in there to get it to look right.

It's got some mods and is "way" faster than the C6Z. ;)

As far as the HKS muffler goes, I'm going to install it and see how it sounds. If it's shitty, I've already got an EVO buddy who wants to buy it.

Quality 3" canister mufflers sound fucking awesome on a turbo miata. Do it.

• Thunder Racing 230/224 .575/.563 111 camshaft
• Spec Stage II+ clutch or some shit and a lwfw (don't notice a difference and it's a PITA)
• Ported intake manifold
• 85mm throttle body
• Vararam intake
• TPIS Long tubes
• X-pipe
• Soon-to-be-removed high-flow cats
• Stock exhaust (I've retained it for weight savings, it's Ti and lighter than most aftermarket options + it's loud as fuck as is)
• MGW Shifter (it's shitty, I hate it)
• Radar detector, jammers, etc. Waiting on the smoke screen and machine gun turrets (j/k)
• Lame C6Z reproduction wheels, to be shitcanned as soon as I can line up four OEM C5Z rears.

I'm probably forgetting a few things, it made 420 rwhp on a Mustang dyno with its current, conservative tune. It's a pain in the ass to drive compared to the C6Z, but it actually hooks sometimes -- which is nice.

Just sell the damn thing for profit and buy a magnaflow. Those piece of shit canisters don't sound good on anything..

I'm all about the LSx series motors especially when they're in the Z's... but how is a 420rwhp C5Z 'way faster' than a stock C6Z? I can see your C5Z probably keeping up pretty well with a C6Z but anything more sounds like a stretch..

420rwhp/3115lbs vs ~420-460rwhp/3180lbs.

I did some googling and find C6Z's stock dyno anywhere from 420rwhp to 460rwhp bone stock.

I wouldn't go that far, mine sounds decent and on cars like supras, evo's, wrxs...they really sound pretty good. It's really the na cars that ruin them.

Fuck, rip off the quad exit exhaust on your c6z and weld that fucker on. I don't know what the debate is.

I like the hks a lot. I think that it will just look too big on a miata but thats just me. I would say just go str8 pipe with a inline muffler

That's good. But I think it would be better if you put the LS7 in the Miata, the BP in the C5 and the LS6 in the C6Z.

its gonna be about a month or so before i even get my engine! the guy who is building it is doing it on the side for me (im trading him my 96 shell for teh engine) :D it wont have forged internals though, butt it will be a race preped engine. thats a WIN in my book.

I've been MrMightyMouse since 2003 on other forums and recently joined this forum because there looked to be some good content. I apologize for upsetting your feelings regarding name similarities.

It's still my opinion that coffee can mufflers make any Miata look ridiculous, regardless of how good they sound or how old the thread is. ;)

And yes, coffee cans do look dumb on miatas.
