Usually about 600 whp is fine on these cars, like the S2000 our motors are built from the factory. All that is required a upgraded head gasket along with ARP head studs--this kit is actually for sale on flyin' miata's website. I recommend to go with an eBay turbo kit, and all you'll need is a 'chip' found on there as well, then turn the boost up to about 30 pounds of boost with 87 and you'll hit close to 600 whp!
