Damper is fine. I'm out of ideas. Why does this thing run significantly better with incorrect cam timing?

Take the bolt for the sprocket off the cam shafts - there's a dowel pin that locates position. And it's totally possible to push it further in and make it ineffective.

Had them off yesterday. Pins are out far enough to do their job.

Intake cam is off two teeth. Maybe it likes that.

I put it all back together with "correct" timing and I'm back to square one. Apart from somebody removing an absurd amount of material when this head was resurfaced I'm completely out of ideas.

New observation. The megasquirt is trying to idle the car at -6 degrees ignition advance, roughly confirmed with a timing light. No idea why but I know that's not what I want.

The ignition advance gauge in TS does not match the the values in the cells of my ignition table. I assume that isn't right either.

I sincerely apologize to those still subbed to this **** show but I seem to have finally nailed it down. The default flex fuel setting in Brain's basemap pulls 13 degrees of timing. This is a screen cap of his unaltered basemap.

I just went around the block but the car spins tires at the top of first.

That would create a very conservative timing condition, haha! I bet EGTs were through the roof. I hope you didn't hurt the turbo like I did.

Yup, that explains why spool was better than I expected and why the v-band clamp from turbo to downpipe was sticking to the flanges so much. The turbo is $150 shipped so I won't cry to much.

I'm definitely out of pump. Back to waste gate until my dw200 goes in with a dedicated relay. Then I'll retune VE and get a solid VD.

I've been off the corn juice since I still haven't put my dw200 in yet. I'm out of wastegate spring. 100% duty and I can only get ~16 psi peak. These logs are all within 5 minutes of each other.

BP05 head, DIY log manifold, $140 chinese 2871, basemap ignition timing on 91 octane. Seems about right to me.

While it certainly is not a quick spooler, it still makes decent power. Nice.

Well this is concerning, I see why you doubt I'll make over 250 wheel when you're running a significant larger turbo on a larger engine 😂 . Although it does seem that your numbers are a little lower that normal with a 2871 and a1.8. Do you think it has something to do with it being a China charger?

It's primarily due to those pulls being on a less than optimized tune.

Current tune VD's at 270whp at 16-17 psi on e85. Spools a bit better than those pulls as well. The turbo is capable of flowing much more.

My results have absolutely nothing to do with why I think you won't get 280whp out of a 2560 on a 1.6.
