itb na build questions????
Yes because our BP's have honda cams and heads...lol
Show me a BP running 14:1 on pump.
Oh it wasn't a BP? Okay, then lets share our stories. I once saw a monkey felching a buffalo. True story

So I guess a D16 is pretty exotic, huh? Peak power at 6500 rpm, must have been designed by Ferrari.
Its sad how down you guys are on your own engine. Just because it hasnt been done, does not mean that its impossible. There have been an insane number of people seeing how fast of a drag car can be built with that little Honda engine. Miatas? not so much.
A BP with a milled head and a cam profile with a sufficiently retarded, long duration intake lobe could definitely run on a high compression ratio. 10.5:1 is not high.
Just because you made a low compression NA car detonate doesnt mean anything. You could make a car with 8.0:1 CR detonate on 100 octane if you wanted to.

Get a back into a miata and show us mere mortals that you're not flapping your butthole in the wind and actually do something.
Show us all these awesome theories in action. By you.
ADVANCE/EVOLVE THE MIATA WORLD BRO
lol
If I had a Miata I would.
Step one would be to mill the head for quench instead of buying super expensive pistons. Then see how far that gets you.
Or we could just not talk about possibilities, keep doing the same thing forever, and continue to be slow.
Dont we all miss the days when tuning was done with an FMU and bipes?

I hear what you're saying, I just chuckle when we got a bunch of wise guys telling everyone how they should man up and do cool new things with their cars and none of them do any of this on their own cars.
By the way Patsmx5 is doing something very similar with his car and you guys are hating on him

Im driving a bone stock mustang, working, and attending graduate school.
I gotta live through other people until I can afford to buy another Miata. Then Ill be able to do crazy **** to it and laugh maniacally.

im going to end up showing opel (machine shop) my setup and let them help me pick out a setup they have a wide variety of experience. my problem is that this seems to all be collective experience not the lab testing im looking for one engine here one engine there its cool but no consistant results. flying miata may have some answers for me too. my last engine the head was shaved .032" with no issues on pump gas.
ill gladly share what im told

im not sure what information about my setup you guys could use to help answer my question so lets start asking for the sake of putting a list of questions together that could help anyone plan any engine build not this i want a turbo ive got itbs stuff.
thanks everyone

What do you think flyin miata goes off? Lab testing? No, they go off the same collective experience we do. For them to have "lab experience" they'd have to put all of 5 or whatever different combinations of motors onto a dyno and stress test them until they blew up.
They're not gonna do that lol
And your questions for the most part are all answered. You're just being super vague so its hard to even know where to start.
Emilio and a few others have built quite a few n/a track cars. They're all documented here, just search around. Everything from stroker motors to basic bolt on vvt setups.. This isn't anything even close to new.
You have your priorities straight, good for you.
I hope I'm still around if and when you actually start doing this.
I usually stick to tried and true. I have no motivation to waste time, money, and effort guinea pigging cool new ideas.

im not trying to call anyone out but i dont need want or care to have excusses for my car running like crap. nothing like shitty gas or shitty weather. it needs to be able to run relatively consistant like my last setup but more powerful. i have dyno time i can get it pretty dialed in
flyin miata is constantly testing different miatas with different setups they have the parts and expereince and an infinate number of miatas to tinker with both theres and customers. most of us have one or two if we are lucky.

your wonderful know it all attitude really makes forums an unpleasant expereince. if you want to sit here and laugh at everyone. go somewhere else please im just asking questions

I have 12:1 pistons in my car. At first I ran a blend of race and pump gas. After I got used to tuning it a while I took it down to pump gas. Never had a problem with det, and I visually inspected the pistons numerous times. Little motors are far more knock resistant than big motors. Take the advice from someone who has done it.

good points i have a few things done to the cylinder head
oversized valves, deshrouded, port and polish, springs and retainers, and reverse tappets. no cams for now
thanks
